Don Norman is the founding Director of The Design Lab at the University of California, San Diego, and the former Vice President of Apple. He also founded the consulting agency Nielsen Norman Group (now retired), together with Jakob Nielsen.

Norman (age 88) was the very first person to have UX in his job title, after he came up with the term “user experience design”. He is also a well established author, and most known for his 1988 best seller, The Design of Everyday Things (revised and expanded edition published in 2013). An absolute classic, and his most popular introduction to design. This March he came out with a new book, Design for a Better World, where he argues that Humanity-Centred Design is the new Human-Centred Design.

Today Norman’s main focus is on Design for Good, how design might enhance society. At Y Oslo he will share his insight and wisdom on the interaction between technology, education, business, people, and society. He will do so in a straight forward, no-nonsense Q&A session where he will open up for discussion. We very much look forward to many insightful discussions with Don in October!
