PITTSBURGH, USA

This speaker attended in 2021

Jimmy Byrum really enjoys building things - websites, APIs, teams, and enjoy it most when it provides some true value to somebody. He has been lucky enough to stumble his way through a career in tech, and is currently working in Vipps. Jimmy started out in 2000 just before the dot-com crash, learned how to properly code somewhere along the way, got into some good startups, took some time off with family and now finds himself speaking Norwegian and loving brown cheese.

FROM SILICON VALLEY TO OSLO

@ Friday 09:05 - 09:30

Jimmy moved to Oslo in 2018 and he was struck by how much more modern life was here than in San Francisco. To put it simply: most things just work, and that's pretty cool. It's also one important ingredient in what makes Oslo a good place to take risks and work on new things. Jimmy starts the talk with a bit of Silicon Valley history and how it got to be what it is today and comment a bit on what makes it special and what makes it struggle. He will share some personal experiences that illustrates some of the differences, and talk about why he thinks we're well-situated in Oslo to be a part of the future of the Tech Industry.
